About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist position is essential to the Distribution Team, ensuring world-class customer service. This role involves performing cycle counts, location checks, and reconciling discrepancies to meet audit requirements. The specialist will collaborate with purchasing and planning departments to resolve receipt and production discrepancies, and manage slow-moving materials to optimize location usage. Additionally, they will work with manufacturing to maintain kanban levels and fulfill rush needs, ensuring proper labeling and handling of inventory to reduce damage and maintain accuracy. This role also involves backing up the shipping coordinator, working with carriers, creating customs clearance documents, and transacting shipments in SAP. The ability to use shipping software for domestic and export shipments and understand incoterms is crucial.

Requirements

  • Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a one (1) year certificate from college or technical school in general business, inventory control or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in order to perform required tasks
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to key in data using computerized inventory management system (SAP)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities to handle multiple assignments, problem solving
  • In performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong customer service skills to effectively work with customers, carriers and co-workers
  • Ability to operate a forklift /reach truck and pallet jacks safely.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with shipping coordinator acting as a backup. In this role you will be working with carriers, creating documents required for customs clearance and transacting shipments in SAP
  • Ability to use UPS, Fed Ex, Freight Forwarder and LTL carriers software to ship both domestic and export shipment
  • Understands incoterms and processes the documentation needed for export shipments.
