About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist plays a pivotal role in developing and executing inventory accuracy policies aimed at maximizing the company's return on investment and meeting service expectations. The Inventory Control Specialist is tasked with coordinating routine inventory processes, including cycle counts, inventory issuances, reconciliation, and physical inventory counts. Collaborating closely with Supply Chain Management, the Materials Team, and Business Unit Partners, they lead analysis against metrics to develop regular actionable insights and improves inventory performance using leading practices and solutions. Successful Inventory Control Specialists are self-motivated to drive cross-functional improvements and take ownership of the Business Unit’s inventory accuracy and materials processes.

Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience with inventory transactions and queries in ERP system
  • 3 years’ experience counting and reconciling inventory via cycle counts
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalency
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) to create, edit, and maintain documents
  • Perform ERP transactions, queries, and reports
  • Proficient English business communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work closely with others and have good communication skills
  • Must be very detailed oriented
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with a dynamic business environment
  • Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines
  • Self-motivated, requires minimal supervision
  • Able to efficiently work in a high-volume, fast-paced, team environment

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience using pallet trucks, tools, and equipment to handle and move material
  • 1 year experience using reel counters and scales to count small components
  • Use of powered material handling equipment (i.e. forklift)
  • Experience handling electronic components
  • Experience in setting up MS Excel functions including creating and editing formulas, VLOOKUP, and PivotTables

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the generation of cycle count and physical inventory sheets and is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the available inventory count
  • Prepare statistical and information reports on material coordination and warehouse activities
  • Use Excel to understand and edit reports for daily and ad hoc tasks including sorting, filtering, creating reports and charts
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors
  • Verify, reconcile, and transact materials returned from manufacturing to maintain accurate inventory
  • Enter cycle counts in ERP system
  • Utilize reel counters and scales to accurately count inventory
  • Audit receiving, shipping, material handling processes and procedures, shipments, receipts, etc.
  • Assist in identifying process issues, performing root cause analysis, and finding and implementing solutions
  • Support the implementation of training, procedural documentation updates, and process improvements
  • Participate in and possibly lead cross-functional projects, process improvements and continuous improvement events
  • Directly involved in interdepartmental activities working with Accounting, Procurement, Planning, Operations, etc., daily and on special projects
  • Must be able to cross train within different departments in the materials and assist Material Handlers as needed
  • Provides oversight and guidance of other team members as assigned by leadership
  • Ability to influence others to drive operational and inventory accuracy improvements
  • Maintain inventory organization & cycle count by location, count, and status
  • Process inventory adjustments while following approval hierarchy
  • Transact material in ERP system to match physical movement of parts
  • Uses a variety of packaging and handling methods to protect the materials from damage including electrostatic discharge prevention and moisture sensitive parts
  • Store and organize parts considering material handling guidance including FIFO, locator organization, weight, etc.
  • Able to shift from one core task to another, as directed, without difficulty
  • Provide training per on-the-job certifications
  • Maintain safety and 5S workplace organization standards
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
