About The Position

The Ohio Department of Public Safety is seeking to fill two Inventory Control Specialist 2 positions within the Director's Office/Facility Management (Distribution & Inventory Services). These roles are responsible for maintaining agency-wide and statewide inventory, including furniture, equipment, records, and vehicles. The specialists will develop, implement, and enforce inventory control policies and procedures, assist in the planning and distribution of fixed assets, and manage the automated Asset Management System. They will also coordinate with Distribution Services for asset handling and with State Salvage for proper disposal of assets. Additionally, these positions act as receiving agents for procured supplies, materials, and equipment.

Requirements

  • 9 months of experience as an Inventory Control Specialist, 64551.
  • 18 months of training or 18 months of experience in inventory control AND 3 courses or 9 months of experience in electronic data processing related to inventory control AND 1 course or 3 months of experience in public relations.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • Must possess and maintain Ohio driver's license or must be able to provide own transportation.
  • A BCI fingerprint check, a background check, may be required.
  • A comparative analysis and/or drug test may be a requirement of the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain extensive agency-wide & statewide inventory such as furniture, equipment, records, or vehicles & develop, implement & enforce policies & procedures on inventory control.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination & distribution of fixed assets to ODPS facilities.
  • Update, verify, & track all information on automated Asset Management System.
  • Coordinate with Distribution Services on receipt, storage, issue, shipment, & pickup of fixed assets.
  • Coordinate disposal of fixed assets with State Salvage to ensure proper disposal procedures are followed & policies are enforced.
  • Act as receiving agent for supplies, materials & equipment procured by ODPS.
