About The Position

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for supporting compliance with the region’s hardgoods inventory policies and procedures. This position will advance accurate and timely inventory management and reporting. A high level of coordination with divisional and regional teams is required in order to reach established financial goals, monitor operational controls, maintain timelines for inventory cycle counts, and perform variance analyses and reporting. This job will benefit from an experienced inventory professional who brings strong technical grounding, thoughtful analytical skills, demonstrates a supportive leadership approach, and is experienced in improving systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ideally, 3 years of inventory management experience.
  • Inventory analysis experience.
  • SAP working knowledge.
  • Experience or background in bulk/gas industry analysis or analytical finance.
  • Google Office & MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word).
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Process design and high attention to detail.
  • Organization & time management with competing priorities.
  • Verbal & written communication, listening, and teamwork.
  • Diplomacy and thoughtful communication when navigating challenges and building alignment.
  • Physical ability: extended sitting, occasional walking, driving/computer/phone use, and working in extreme temperatures (-10°F to 100°F+), production environments, or near machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with, support, and guide hardgoods cycle counts at the plants and branches.
  • Review and approve inventory adjustments as a result of variances to physical counts compared to the perpetual inventory records in accordance with defined variance thresholds, collaborating with plant and branch personnel to determine the root cause of inventory variances.
  • Work alongside branches to assist with bolt-on programs, inventory promotions, new product, or other vendor/Radnor sponsored inventory programs.
  • Support Accounts Payable and Corporate Purchasing by investigating and resolving challenges with invoices.
  • Provide branch-based reporting to measure inventory turns, inactive inventory, adjustments, and other relevant metrics.
  • Partner with branches to reduce Hardgoods Day Supply (HDS), slow moving/obsolete inventory stock, and inventory reserve expense.
  • Work with Area Branch Operations Coordinators, Area Branch Operations Managers, and Branch personnel to assist with training and onboarding of new Associates on hardgoods inventory processes.
  • Work in conjunction with the division and field on acquisition-related activities (including conversion of HG part numbers, validation and verification of inventories, and establishment of opening balance reserves).
  • Work with the field on branch closure activities which may arise.
  • Assist field with wall-to-wall inventory counts if required.
  • Assist field in performing branch remerchandising activities as needed.
  • Assist field in establishing appropriate levels and set-up for Corporate purchasing systems, including freezes/guarantees and Min/Max stocking levels to help ensure dynamic deployment and other automated inventory management systems are working adequately.
  • Develop and implement required process changes and solutions to reduce or eliminate inventory variances, including new SOPs or other Company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate department workflow to ensure all goals and key milestones are met.
