About The Position

The Inventory Control Lead will work closely with the Distribution Supervisor and is responsible for leading the distribution center’s inventory control processes, including organizing, counting, and recording warehouse inventory, maintaining accurate records, and reporting and investigating discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with leadership oversight
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move inventory using a pallet jack, dolly, and/or forklift
  • Basic understanding on inventory control concepts
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to understand, interpret, and explain complex and abstract issues and respond appropriately
  • Able to utilize sound, independent judgment and make responsible decisions and recommendations
  • Excellent follow-through and detail orientation
  • Able to effectively utilize required computer programs
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and personality types
  • Must be able to work in warehouse environment with varying temperatures
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Appropriate work experience
  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds and be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly required to comprehend and use basic language, either written or spoken, to communicate simple and complex information, ideas, and information.
  • The employee is also required to use logic to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information, and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations.
  • The employee must use problem-solving skills to formulate and apply appropriate courses of action for routine or familiar situations.
  • The employee may be required to perform numerical operations including basic counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing or more complex quantitative calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain updated and accurate records of warehouse inventory using inventory software and systems in place
  • Lead periodic inventory audits
  • Compare records with current counts to find and investigate any discrepancies
  • Prepare inventory reports to provide to management
  • Ensure best practices are followed by other team members assigned to inventory control
  • Enforce safety policies on the floor
  • Operate a forklift when necessary
  • Other warehouse or administrative duties as assigned
