About The Position

The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, tracking lumber product movement, and supporting operational visibility across the yard and warehouse. This role ensures alignment between physical inventory and system data, identifies discrepancies, and supports efficient operations through accurate reporting and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records for lumber and related materials
  • Perform cycle counts, daily audits, and reconciliations between physical inventory and system data
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and misloads
  • Track inbound and outbound inventory movements, ensuring proper system entry and accuracy
  • Ensure proper documentation of receipts, transfers, and inventory adjustments
  • Coordinate with yard and warehouse teams to verify product locations and inventory status
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate risks (shortages, overages, misplacements, delays)
  • Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with company procedures
  • Generate reports on inventory status, discrepancies, and performance trends
  • Partner with leadership to improve inventory accuracy, processes, and reporting efficiency
  • Conduct outbound load verification, ensuring correct product, count, and documentation prior to shipment
  • Manage call windows and shipment coordination, supporting scheduling and communication with drivers and operations
  • Conduct daily railcar verification checks, confirming inventory positioning, status, and readiness
  • Cross-train to understand and support railcar ordering and release processes
  • Capture inventory photos, labeling, and placarding to support visibility and documentation
  • Perform limited forklift operation strictly for inventory-related tasks such as product relocation or verification
  • Support local leadership with maintaining and updating the forklift/transloader control log when required
  • Support onboarding and cross-training of team members on inventory processes
  • Assist with general administrative, reporting, and coordination tasks as assigned
