About The Position

The purpose of this position is to order and release Water Distribution inventory supplies to keep the inventory managed. Assists Environmental Services divisions (Water Plant, Wastewater, Streets and Stormwater) with distribution of supplies as needed. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Requirements

  • High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in warehousing, inventory control or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Must possess/maintain Forklift Certification.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics, and inventory control procedures.
  • Skill in operating a fork lift.
  • Ability to operate small hand and power tools.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and to maintain required records.
  • Ability to use a computer and small office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper stock organization.
  • Checks inventory, orders materials, validates shipment invoices, enters deliveries, checks materials for factory defects, prepares documentation to return materials to vendor in case of defects, maintains and audits required inventories, signs out materials to field crews, and enters material withdrawals.
  • Receives materials and supplies, and re-stocks shelves.
  • Operates fork lift.
  • Performs semi-skilled, manual, and/or laboring tasks using hand tools and power tools.
  • Assists in the preparation for disasters or emergencies.
  • Ensures availability of needed materials and supplies.
  • Visually checks equipment and reports maintenance or repair problems at the beginning and the end of the workday, assuring equipment is properly equipped, serviced and cleaned.
  • Prepares for audits (Inventory counts performed Mid and End of Year).
  • Inventory checks and audit the Fleet equipment assigned to the Department of Environmental Services (Proper City ID tags, Vehicle numbers, License plates, and Mileage).
