About The Position

The Engineering Services Office in the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is looking for a self-disciplined, highly motivated, and customer service-oriented individual for the role of Part-Time Inventory control and distribution specialist Intern to join our Supply Chain Department. ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC). ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to organize large quantities of diverse items systematically
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar database applications for inventory tracking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence
  • Capability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with inventory management software systems
  • Familiarity with tracking technologies
  • Knowledge of university procurement or property management systems

Responsibilities

  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Standing and walking throughout warehouse for extended periods daily
  • Bending, reaching, and climbing ladders to access shelving frequently
  • Operating hand trucks, pallet jacks, and similar equipment
