About The Position

Manages the creation and administration of purchase orders to maintain proper inventory balances in multiple warehouses for an assigned product category or group of suppliers. Forecasts inventory needs and ensures service levels are maximized for inbound and outbound orders. Works closely with category management and logistics areas to take advantage of cost-saving opportunities.

Requirements

  • Intermediate knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of buying, merchandising and retail operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAP reporting and transactional applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy, productivity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and analyze information.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and five or more years related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors assigned inventory levels and adjusts accordingly based on forecasted needs.
  • Executes plans developed by category managers which includes displays, marketing plans, and promotions.
  • Works with category managers to execute forward buys as appropriate.
  • Reviews opportunities to purchase from alternative or non-traditional sources.
  • Monitors performance and service levels of vendor products/partners.
  • Maintains a high level of store awareness and obtain direct feedback regarding assigned category products and/or competitive opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal organizations including store operations, logistics, accounting, manufacturing, and store brands.
  • Achieves service level and inventory turn objectives as expected.
  • Demonstrates professional understanding of current market conditions and supplier-specific logistics or product issues.
  • Communicates any issues to leadership.
