About The Position

The Inventory Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of inventory management within the transportation and warehousing sector. This position is responsible for maintaining precise records of stock levels, processing incoming and outgoing shipments, and verifying inventory data against physical counts. The Inventory Clerk supports operational workflows by utilizing warehouse management systems and adhering to established safety protocols to prevent loss or damage of goods. By accurately interpreting procedure manuals and documentation, the clerk ensures compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Ultimately, this role contributes to the smooth functioning of warehouse operations, enabling timely delivery and optimal resource allocation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and inventory control processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and shipping labels.
  • Basic math skills to calculate figures and amounts accurately.
  • Familiarity with operating pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures relevant to warehouse environments.
  • Certification in forklift or material handling equipment operation.
  • Experience with bar code scanning technology and inventory tracking software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cycle counts as assigned by the Inventory Lead.
  • Physically verify pallets against system records to prevent ghost pallets.
  • Complete counts the same day they are started to maintain accuracy.
  • Support inbound receiving by verifying product matches system entries.
  • Identify and document missing, misplaced, or damaged pallets using the tagging system (Red, Yellow, Green).
  • Submit daily cycle count sheets, discrepancy notes, and inbound receiving verifications to the Inventory Lead.
  • Support Inventory Lead Supervisor and/or Manager during audits.
  • Participate in all required training, including inbound receiving procedures.
  • Follow established processes for cycle counts, tagging, and reporting.
  • Report damaged or dropped product immediately and follow all PPE/safety guidelines.
  • Complete any additional responsibilities or projects assigned by upper management to support overall business objective.
