The Inventory and Parts Specialist (internal title "Kitting Clerk") ensures that production lines never stop by accurately interpreting complex Bill of Materials (BOM) structures within the ERP system to stage, pick and verify all required sub-components.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required, Vocational or Technical training recommended.
• 2 years’ experience working in a stores or warehouse environment.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Walk or stand for long periods. Frequently bend, twist, stoop.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to follow precise instructions and picking lists.
• Computer literate with good verbal communication skills for collaborating with teams, vendors and drivers.
• Proven experience using ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Access D365 ERP system to confirm BOM requirements per machine.
• Package grouping components into carts or "kits" according to specific production requirements.
• Print status reports per machine / cart – weekly. Review with internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting multi-level BOMs.
• Calculate total component needs based on batch sizes, ensuring that Units of Measure (UOM) such as "each," "feet," are correctly converted during the picking process.
• Identify and flag discrepancies or outdated parts, working with engineering to validate BOM substitutions when primary stock is unavailable.
• High attention to detail regarding BOM Revision Levels to ensure the kit matches the current engineering order changes.
• Locate and pull raw materials or subcomponents from warehouse locations, recording every transaction in the ERP to ensure real-time inventory accuracy.
• Perform physical counts, report on missing parts, and log any returned inventory back into the system with appropriate reason codes.
• Participate in Cycle Counting and physical-to-digital reconciliations to ensure the ERP system's "on-hand" values match physical shelf counts, a critical requirement for financial year-end audits.
• Regularly audit active Production Orders to verify that the parts consumed physically match the digital BOM.
• Conduct final inspections of kits to ensure no components are missing.
• Strictly follow documented kitting workflows provided by the Stores Manager.
• Manage inbound and outbound shipments, including packing, sorting, packaging, labeling, and managing all related paperwork.
• Verify all harmonized tariff schedules and coordinate with customs brokers for all overseas shipments.
• Assist with creating purchase requisitions and purchase orders using MRP System.
• Track shipments, resolve issues with damaged or lost packages, update system dispatch dates, and close out sales orders upon dispatch.
• Ensure the work area is kept tidy. Floors are clear of debris, and all labels are facing forward. Maintain a "Visual Workplace" where every tool, bin and component has a clearly labelled home, ensuring that missing items are immediately visible.
