The Inventory Analyst coordinates, controls, and reports inventory for a business unit and implements strategies to achieve the material plan. The role works independently on most assignments within established professional standards, applying judgment to moderately complex recurring tasks under general supervision. Situations not covered by standard procedures are referred to a manager or expert resource. The analyst may demonstrate work methods to new employees and builds internal and external relationships that support role objectives, including relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal service teams. The analyst provides guidance to planners on planning practices and data integrity, initiates and leads projects to control inventory, analyzes material plans and recommends inventory levels, and produces weekly inventory forecast and tracking reports. The position balances inventory results with financial records, tracks inventory issues, and helps team members understand and resolve them. It also monitors surplus inventory, supports action plans and physical inventory counts, coordinates surplus-part distribution to other sites, negotiates with brokers to sell surplus parts, and initiates scrapping in accordance with company procedures.
