About The Position

We are currently seeking an Inventory Analyst to join our Inventory Management team in Sudbury. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local 2020-05 United Steelworkers. The Inventory Analyst is responsible for collecting and analyzing data, making improvement recommendations, problem solving, planning and prioritizing work with specific deadlines, coordinating tasks and activates with other departments, creating replenishment requisitions for warehouse inventory. The incumbent will provide ongoing support to warehousing, procurement, and operation. The incumbent will coordinate initiatives and provide an excellent standard of service that will meet the needs of the business. Additionally, in this position you will: Innovation and creativity are sometimes required to improve work processes and methods used by the team to improve tight deadlines that we often work with. Maintain alignment with Procurement, Warehousing and Operational Partnerships regarding responsibilities/collaborative efforts involving all stakeholders. Investigate inventory replenishment issues identifying gaps and developing strategies to implement new processes, controls or tools; considering each plant’s unique inventory requirements. Work with operations to analyze inventory for obsolete material, non-moving reviews, criticality reviews, expense items to inventory and other coordinated initiatives. Create Replenishment requisitions for warehouse inventory demands based on set parameters, taking into consideration anomalies and simulation analysis. System maintenance; material master code changes/updates. Set inventory parameters; based on analysis and recommendations. Planning for future inventory requirements; looking forward to anticipating inventory demand anomalies and making adjustments to inventory levels as required. This will require close working relationship with operational areas. Independent Scenario Analysis; evaluate outputs of the tool, recommend and communicate alternatives. Accuracy and understanding of the data and underlying issues are important factors in making the correct decisions as changes may impact operations. Levels simulation for warehouse inventory planning; data collection using Access tools to gather all simulation inputs, understanding of the inputs is essential.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years progressive experience in related roles

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma preferred in Business related discipline (example Commerce, Engineering/Certified Engineering technologist, Legal)
  • Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) certification is an asset
  • Certification through Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is also desirable
