About The Position

The Inventory Accounting Analyst is responsible for reconciling inventory in our accounting general ledger to inventory in our point of sales system. The analyst leads the investigation into more significant differences.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years’ bookkeeping experience.
  • Post-Secondary education in Bookkeeping/Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting / issue resolution skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Grade 12 or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and format inventory financial information utilizing various reports from our ERP. Analyze and compare these financial reports to identify and correct inventory discrepancies between the GL and POS systems.
  • Reviews results of Year-End to assure results are accurate, where there is a significant gain/loss.
  • Analyze and interpret the physical year-end inventory cutoff results on behalf of the locations, where there is a significant gain/loss. Identify the source of the gain/loss and provide managers with informative explanations and suggestions for corrective action.
  • Research and provide information and guidance to Zone Managers, Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers and Administrative support personnel. Resolve discrepancies. Identify store procedural and/or technical errors and recommend suggestions for improvements.
  • Promote and develop a positive, proactive and interactive approach to inventory management and encourage this approach when communicating with Managers and Administrative personnel.
  • Identify and recommend changes to procedures to increase efficiency, enhance financial accountability and improve service delivery.
  • For store locations in Ontario, reconcile the Ontario Tire Stewardship fees on the balance sheet to inventory quantities on hand per the point of sales system.
  • Monitor gross margins at the transaction level for anomalies requiring further investigation and possible correction.
  • Compose professional correspondence for the purpose of communicating reconciliation results, internally.
