About The Position

This position cares for patients before, during and after an electrophysiology procedure. This position cares for Structural heart (including Watchman), Lead extractions, ablations, Vascular and EP pacemaker / device patients. This includes pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication, documentation of procedural process, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, mapping, post-procedure care and patient education.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer.
  • Knowledge of critical care nursing acquired through 2 years of experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting.
  • Interpersonal skills for successful communication with individuals and groups at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, maintain regular and predictable attendance, and stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling, with potential for repetition.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Electrophysiology skills gained through a minimum of 1 year of experience working in an electrophysiology lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs nursing care for electrophysiology procedures.
  • Circulates and assists during cases, including sterilely dropping procedural supplies on tray, scrubbing in the case, and running for supplies.
  • Records all pertinent information on appropriate data sheets.
  • Assists Radiologic Technologists circulate cases, sterilely dropping procedural supplies on tray.
  • Collaborates with physicians to provide a plan of care for each individualized patient.
  • Assists in other radiology/cardiology procedures as needed.
  • Performs clinical functions as needed.
  • Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments of nursing care.
  • Seeks out educational opportunities and utilizes programs in the hospital for professional growth.
  • Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
  • Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Windows and may be required to participate in further learning opportunities.
