About The Position

This position cares for patients before, during and after an electrophysiology procedure. This position cares for Structural heart (including Watchman), Lead extractions, ablations, Vascular and EP pacemaker / device patients. This includes pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication, documentation of procedural process, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, mapping, post-procedure care and patient education.

Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer (AHA).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer.
Knowledge of critical care nursing acquired through 2 years of experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting.
Interpersonal skills for successful communication with individuals and groups at all levels.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, maintain regular and predictable attendance, and stay awake.
Overall dexterity including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling, with potential for repetition.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Electrophysiology skills gained through a minimum of 1 year of experience working in an electrophysiology lab environment.

Responsibilities

Performs nursing care for electrophysiology procedures.
Circulates and assists during cases, including sterilely dropping procedural supplies on tray, scrubbing in the case, and running for supplies.
Records all pertinent information on appropriate data sheets.
Assists Radiologic Technologists circulate cases, sterilely dropping procedural supplies on tray.
Collaborates with physicians to provide a plan of care for each individualized patient.
Assists in other radiology/cardiology procedures as needed.
Performs clinical functions as needed.
Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments of nursing care.
Seeks out educational opportunities and utilizes programs in the hospital for professional growth.
Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Windows and may be required to participate in further learning opportunities.
