About The Position

This position cares for patients before, during and after an electrophysiology procedure. This position cares for Structural heart (including Watchman), Lead extractions, ablations, Vascular and EP pacemaker / device patients. This includes pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication, documentation of procedural process, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, mapping, post-procedure care and patient education.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • Knowledge of critical care nursing as normally acquired through 2 years’ experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Competency in Microsoft� Windows.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrophysiology skills as gained through a minimum of 1 year of experience working in an electrophysiology lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs nursing care for the above outlined procedures, but not limited to:
  • Circulate and assists during cases, including sterically drop procedural supplies on tray, scrubbing in the case, running for supplies.
  • Records all pertinent information on appropriate data sheets.
  • Assists Radiologic Technologists circulate cases, sterically drop procedural supplies on tray.
  • Collaborates with physicians to provide a plan of care for each individualized patient.
  • Assists in other radiology/cardiology procedures as needed.
  • Performs clinical functions as needed.
  • Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care
  • Assumes the responsibility for processional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital.
  • Precepts / mentors new employees and students.
