About The Position

The Introduction to Computer Science Teacher will review, modify, and/or develop online course content and materials for the Online Catawba High School course, using Canvas as the learning management system. The teacher will provide student-centered online instruction, monitoring, coaching, office hours, and mentoring. This temporary position is for the spring semester, from January 4, 2027, through June 4, 2027.

Requirements

• Teaching experience.
• North Carolina teaching license, including certification within the content area.
• Experience teaching in an online learning environment.
• Experience developing online content or courses.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Willingness to communicate with students through virtual webinars and/or face-to-face.
• Ability to work independently in an online learning environment.
• Self-motivation and excellent time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Canvas.
• Proficiency with G-Suite.
• Proven effectiveness communicating with students, parents, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Review, modify, and/or develop course content and materials for delivery to students using Canvas.
• Provide student-centered online teaching, monitoring, coaching, office hours, and mentoring.
• Participate in regular instructor meetings, face-to-face and/or virtually.
• Contribute to improvement efforts, including regular self-evaluation of course outcomes, assessments, and alignment of content with standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Maintain weekly office hours of at least 2.5 hours.
• Communicate with students through virtual webinars and/or face-to-face.
