About The Position

This position involves coaching, mentoring, and supporting students in intramural golf. The coach is responsible for organizing, supervising, and coordinating all meetings and activities related to the sport, both during and outside of the normal contractual day. This includes assisting with arrangements for transportation, chaperones, security, and custodial help for in-county and out-of-county activities. The coach will ride the bus to and from activities, remaining until the last student departs. Responsibilities also include the care, cleaning, and securing of school and District property, reporting all accidents/injuries, and adhering to District policies. The coach will teach and reinforce fundamentals, good sportsmanship, leadership, respect, and the importance of academics, while inspiring confidence in students. This role requires holding regular supervised practices, working cooperatively with support groups, managing uniforms and equipment, and assisting with home/school activities and athletic banquets. The coach will also serve as a liaison between faculty, administration, students, and the community, and must be able to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid Florida teaching certificate.
  • Current employee of the School District of Lee County.
  • Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to and inspire confidence in students.
  • Knowledge of and experience with organizing student activities and events.
  • Organizational, leadership, and managerial skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead diverse groups of people.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard computer applications.
  • Ability to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to students.
  • Organize, supervise, and coordinate all meetings and activities which occur during the normal contractual day and extend beyond the normal contractual day.
  • Assist in arrangement of transportation, chaperones, security, custodial help, and assistance at all appropriate activities in-county and out-of-county.
  • Ride the bus to and from activities, staying until the last student leaves from that activity.
  • Responsible for the care, cleaning, and securing of all school and District property.
  • Report all accidents/injuries to the Activities/Athletic Director and/or administrator as prescribed by county/FHSAA policies.
  • Adhere to District policies and procedures; abides by and enforces School Board policies on tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
  • Coach assigned sport.
  • Supervise and organize student activities at practice and intramural events and report progress to Director.
  • Recruit students and publicize activities and start up dates.
  • Teach and coach the fundamentals of the activity, good sportsmanship, leadership, respect for others, the importance of academics, and relate to and inspire confidence in students.
  • Hold regular and supervised after school practices and activities.
  • Work cooperatively with support groups.
  • Record and hand out uniforms and have students properly equipped and ready to participate.
  • Assist with home/school activities, attend athletic banquets, and carry emergency phone numbers and insurance forms to all activities. (Return forms at end of season.)
