About The Position

The Department of Health, Behavior and Society (HBS) is seeking an Interviewer. The Interviewer provides entry-level administrative support for a research project. The Interviewer will assist with tasks that may include community outreach, data collection, sample collection, laboratory work, and/or field work. Collects and/or organizes data through implementation of research procedures and understanding of research goals. The Department of Health, Behavior, and Society is dedicated to research, education, and practice on public health issues rooted in human behavior and social conditions—from smoking and substance use to diabetes and HIV and more.

This position is responsible for recruitment and enrollment of research participants, data collection activities such as participant screening, obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews using computerized interviewing tools, HIV counseling and testing, and providing referrals to care. Interviewers may also be Field Supervisors who have responsibility for overseeing data collection in the field, including managing incentive payments to participants and recording payments in payment vouchers. Interviewers with a valid driver’s license may also drive project vans to assigned venues for data collection. Must maintain confidentiality of study participants' identity and information, including responses to survey questions and HIV test results. Basic technology and computer skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
• Six months of work experience.
• Basic technology and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection and organization of data per study requirements, e.g., participant interviews, administering questionnaires; conduct background research, etc.
• Assist with setting up tools and procedures for data collection and study processes.
• Enter data into the database.
• Run routine queries of the data.
• Perform basic literature searches.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Overseeing data collection in the field, including managing incentive payments to participants and recording payments in payment vouchers.
• Drive project vans to assigned venues for data collection.
• Maintain confidentiality of study participants' identity and information, including responses to survey questions and HIV test results.
