About The Position

The Interventionist, Part-Time (Reading or Math) at Ross Elementary will provide assistance to teachers and help students become proficient in reading and/or mathematics. This role involves providing small group and/or individual instruction, writing and delivering lesson plans, administering assessments, and monitoring student progress. The position requires managing student behavior, utilizing technology for progress monitoring, and performing other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

  • Meets the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) qualifications including an associate’s degree or 48 hours of college credit or have passed the ParaProfessional Praxis test
  • Meets the health and physical qualifications
  • Ability to 'catch on' or understand instructions and underlying principles and ability to reason and make judgments
  • Ability to understand meanings of words and the ideas associated with them
  • Ability to make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shading of figures
  • Ability to move the hands easily and skillfully

Responsibilities

  • Provides small group and/or individual instruction in reading and/or mathematics in grades K-8
  • Writes lesson plans for small group reading instruction
  • Delivers lesson plans according to specified techniques
  • Administers screening and survey-level assessments under the guidance of the Response to Intervention Facilitator
  • Administers running records under the guidance of the Instructional Facilitator
  • Keeps accurate records of student work, attendance, and intervention
  • Works with Response to Intervention Facilitator to monitor student progress
  • Manages the behavior of a small group of students
  • Uses personal computers and/or tablets and software applications for determining and monitoring student progress
  • Attends training as needed
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Principal
