About The Position

The IDEA Interventionist Teacher's mission is to provide targeted intervention to small groups of students with identified academic gaps in Reading and/or Math, aiming to close these gaps by two years within a single school year. This role is crucial for preparing students to participate in IDEA’s AP for All initiative. The interventionist will utilize a systematic approach including universal screening, Direct Instruction, frequent progress monitoring, and intensive research-based interventions for students who are struggling. This position is grant-funded through Title I Part A, with potential for extension, but without guarantee of ongoing employment. All duties are directly tied to allowable activities within the grant program.

Requirements

  • High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
  • State certification preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction utilizing on model programming for small groups consisting of students in 3rd-8th grade that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups consisting of students in Kinder-2nd grade (dependent on campus assignment) that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups consisting of students that are in 9th-12th grade (dependent on campus assignment) academically at risk to graduate to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Work closely with general education teachers to coordinate support for students requiring intervention.
  • Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
  • Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
  • Implement formal and informal assessments to track individual student progress and learning needs, adjusting lesson plans accordingly and updating the gradebook weekly.
  • Communicate student progress with students and families on a weekly basis.
  • Effectively facilitate and personally use technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks.
  • Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns with campus-wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community in the classroom.
  • Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities they identify with.
  • Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
  • Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
  • Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
  • Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week.
  • Perform additional responsibilities such as after-school tutoring or Saturday school, based on the needs of scholars.
