About The Position

Cleveland Clinic's Mercy Hospital is seeking an Interventional Vascular Technologist to join their Cardiac Cath Laboratory team. This role supports advanced therapies by assisting physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures such as angioplasty and stenting. The technologist will use fluoroscopic equipment to capture images of blood vessels, enabling intervention on potential heart blockages. This opportunity offers the chance to advance skills, with potential for cross-training in Electrophysiology and further educational development. The position involves working days with on-call requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing
  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist
  • Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)
  • Experience in high volume angiography department

Responsibilities

  • Utilize sterile or aseptic techniques to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional and surgical procedures per protocol.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
  • Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
  • Sets-up or operate injector to administer contrast agents for procedures and manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is utilized.
  • Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures.
  • Check and prepare patients prior to Vascular-Interventional study.
  • Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by understanding baseline lab requirements.
  • Position patients to obtain radiographic exposure.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
  • Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Process billing via RIS.
  • Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
  • Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
  • Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
