About The Position

The Interventional Vascular Specialist III is an expert in advanced interventional techniques. This role supports quality improvement initiatives, precepts staff, and leads special projects while collaborating with vendors, biomedical engineers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care and safety. Strong leadership, clinical expertise, and communication skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of radiologic OR cardiovascular technology.
  • 3 years of experience as an Interventional Vascular Specialist, Interventional Radiology Technologist, or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist.
  • Registered as an ARRT-R (with VI or CV credential) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as clinical expert in advanced interventional techniques.
  • Expert in maintaining and troubleshooting equipment (hemodynamic system, imaging systems, advanced modalities). Coordinates PM schedule.
  • Collaborates with Biomed to ensure optimal up time.
  • Collaborates with department educator to support ongoing education for staff.
  • Serves as front-line leader to support staff.
  • Provides leadership for day-to-day unit operations.
  • Assists with annual and midyear evaluation process.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal leadership skills and helps promote teamwork.
  • Able to anticipate possible problems or complications and responds quickly.
  • Collaborates with billing/coding team for proper charging of procedures and supplies.
  • Liaison with vendors regarding features of supply and devices.
  • Actively participates in department quality improvement.
  • Serves as superuser for equipment and devices.
  • Precepts staff for clinical advancement and assists with competency validation.
  • Liaison for interdepartmental and intradepartmental improvements.
  • Takes charge of any special projects/departmental improvements.
  • Assists with Staff orientation, and staff competencies.
  • Liaison for research and pilot trials.
  • Assist with quality and safety issues such as device recalls, tissue registry, SAFE event reviews, etc.
  • Supports department leadership to achieve organizational goals and growth.
  • Precepts new staff and students.
  • Should have intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Able to assist with circulating role as needed.
  • Troubleshoots imaging equipment collaborating with biomedical engineers for service.
  • Participate in procedural charging.
  • Maintains supply management.
  • Able to act quickly under emergency situations.
  • Able to discuss with physician plan of action and assist with any high-risk procedures.
  • Cross-trains as needed to support departmental needs.
  • Monitors cases.
  • Understands and works with x-ray system, including panning table and recognizing different angles.
  • Manages access site including proper removal of sheath, assessment of hematoma and knowledge of hematoma management.
  • Understands concepts of radiation safety.
  • Knowledgeable in vascular anatomy and recognizing different types of lesions.
  • Expert knowledge of supply features and applications to procedure.
  • Knowledge and adherence to sterile technique.
  • Able to communicate effectively with team, patients, families and medical staff.
  • Assists in procedures such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, FEVAR.
  • Able to assist with complex procedures; including multiple wire exchanges and able to use long wires and OTW balloons.
  • Should be able to use specialty devices such as laser, penumbra, Inari and shockwave.
