Under general supervision, performs the full range of duties required to assist the radiologists during special invasive and non-invasive radiographic scans and performs a diverse range of other diagnostic radiology work on a wide variety of patients. This role requires the ability to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the Department. The employee regularly works in a clean, well lighted & temperature controlled environment with moderate noise levels. There is potential for exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous material, which can be minimized by observing normal safety procedures. The role involves work that produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods, and operating a personal computer or CRT between 40% and 70% of the time. It also involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (up to 50 pounds) and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or handling materials and equipment. Excellent human relation skills are essential for dealing with patients, physicians, and others in difficult or sensitive situations, including verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and assertiveness. A customer service orientation, leadership, and organization skills, the ability to work independently, and a positive attitude are also required. The technologist must be able to suture in tubes after proper training and proof of competency.
