About The Position

This position is located within the Cardiac cath lab at Methodist Hospital. The role involves assisting radiologists/interventionalists in interventional procedures, including acting as a scrub tech when appropriate. The technologist must adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, follow radiation safety protocols, and be aware of patient dose alert levels. They should understand complex procedures, determine necessary supplies, and set up sterile fields. Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy is required, as is effective communication within a multidisciplinary team. Documentation in the EMR is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • Requires knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during interventional exams.
  • Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to obtain advanced credential in interventional radiography, if applicable.
  • Experience as a radiologic technologist, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists radiologist/interventionalist in interventional procedures including acting as scrub tech where appropriate.
  • Adheres to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Follows radiation safety protocols and is aware of patient dose alert levels and escalation procedure.
  • Understands and has knowledge of complex procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to determine appropriate supplies for procedure and sets up sterile field.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of cross sectional and vascular anatomy.
  • Communicates and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (critical care, ED, Trauma, IP, OP, Nursing, Oncology, Transplant, GI, Neurosurgery, etc).
  • Documents necessary information in EMR.
