About The Position

This position is located within the Cardiac cath lab in Methodist Hospital. The technologist will assist the radiologist/interventionalist in interventional procedures, including acting as a scrub tech where appropriate. The role requires adherence to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as radiation safety protocols, including awareness of patient dose alert levels and escalation procedures. The technologist must understand complex procedures, determine appropriate supplies, and set up sterile fields. Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy is necessary. Effective communication and teamwork within a multi-disciplinary team are essential, as is documentation in the EMR. This role requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • Requires knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during interventional exams.
  • Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to obtain advanced credential in interventional radiography, if applicable.
  • Experience as a radiologic technologist, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists radiologist/interventionalist in interventional procedures including acting as scrub tech where appropriate.
  • Adheres to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Follows radiation safety protocols and is aware of patient dose alert levels and escalation procedure.
  • Understands and has knowledge of complex procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to determine appropriate supplies for procedure and sets up sterile field.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of cross sectional and vascular anatomy.
  • Communicates and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (critical care, ED, Trauma, IP, OP, Nursing, Oncology, Transplant, GI, Neurosurgery, etc).
  • Documents necessary information in EMR.
