The Cardiac Cath Lab Interventional Rad Tech performs advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures. Responsibilities include scrubbing, monitoring, assisting providers, responding to patient distress, and managing equipment inventory. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Radiology or Completion of certification program in Radiography
  • Current ARRT (R)
  • Current license as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of Indiana

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.
  • Scrubbing, monitoring, and assisting providers during procedures.
  • Responding to patient distress situations with the team.
  • Assisting with equipment quality control and inventory management.
  • Prepares patient and equipment for cardiac lab procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting up pressure transducers and tubing.
  • Ensures all x-ray images are of good quality and x-ray related equipment for procedures are maintained.
  • Attends to patient needs during cardiac lab procedures.
  • Circulates during procedure, as applicable.
  • Scrubs during procedure, as applicable. Assists the physician in maneuvering catheters.
  • Monitors and records hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
  • Participates in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Participates in On-call per established call schedule.
  • Assists in transporting patients to nursing units.
  • Prepares the Cardiac Lab procedures rooms by ensuring that adequate stock is available.
  • Performs the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Effectively communicates with members of the care team to deliver high quality, patient centered care.
