About The Position

This position is responsible for verifying patient identification and ensuring the presence of appropriate signed informed procedural consent. The technologist will identify and review allergies and history of contrast reaction prior to all procedures by reviewing patient records and questioning the patient. They will verify package integrity and expiration dates on all sterile supplies, prepare the patient and equipment for utilization of sterile technique, and prepare equipment/supplies for sterilization after the procedure. The role involves participating in the procedural timeout, monitoring and recording all procedural data, and maintaining procedural event logs. The technologist will provide patient comfort, familiarize them with the equipment and supplies, apply necessary monitors, and prepare access site(s) including sterile drapes. They will verify appropriate medications and/or contrast agents and dosages with nursing staff and physician. When scrubbing into a procedure, sterile and aseptic technique is required for infection prevention. Handling of blood and bodily fluids will be per policy. The role advocates for radiation safety and protection for self and coworkers, wears a personal radiation dosimeter, and takes necessary precautions to limit/minimize patient and staff exposure. Documentation of fluoroscopy time and radiation doses is required, along with evaluating reports to determine if values are within established safety limits. Post-procedural care is provided, and participation in Quality Assessment & Improvement is expected. All other duties as assigned will also be performed.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited radiography program OR equivalent training/education program for required certification/licensure.
Board certified ARRT OR eligible to take boards (must be board certified within six (6) months of hire) OR Graduate of a Cardiac Intervention Program AND registered or registry eligible (must be registered within six (6) months of hire)
ACLS required within six (6) months of hire (Rockford Only)
National Institute of Healthcare Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required within six (6) months of hire (Rockford Only)
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
Must be able to participate in holiday and on-call rotations.
