Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a major, minor, or comparable credential of content expertise in the primary teaching discipline.
  • Teaching license in the primary teaching discipline or demonstrable progress towards obtaining licensure.
  • Record of strong student achievement as a middle school or high school teacher.
  • Proficiency using technology to advance teaching and learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in primary teaching discipline.
  • Experience working with English language learners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data-driven annual, unit, and lesson plans aligned to Cristo Rey Network's Common-Core-aligned standards and benchmarks that drive exceptional student-achievement gains on core assessments.
  • Design and administer interim assessments aligned to course standards, analyze student performance, and collaborate to develop instructional responses.
  • Execute rigorous, engaging, high-impact lessons that accelerate student growth, monitor student understanding, use technology effectively, incorporate challenging texts, and include character instruction.
  • Build an understanding of each student as an individual (cura personalis), forge strong relationships with students and parents, and communicate frequently with families.
  • Define and consistently uphold school-wide practices, routines, and norms for student behavior.
  • Maintain an organized and vibrant classroom environment that supports student learning.
  • Prioritize and manage time effectively to follow through on diverse responsibilities.
  • Participate enthusiastically in professional development and apply feedback for growth.
  • Contribute constructively to the team in analyzing student work, identifying students needing support, and problem-solving challenges.
  • Collaborate with integrity, humility, commitment, and joy to ensure team trust and accomplish ambitious goals.
  • Embrace team goals and results as a collective responsibility.
  • Engage students and parents with respect, fairness, and empathy.
  • Model values consistent with Catholic, Jesuit education and service to others.
  • Lead the development and oversight of one core, supplementary role (e.g., Campus Minister, Co-curricular and Athletics Coordinator, Academic Assistance Program Coordinator).
  • Provide tutoring through the Academic Assistance Program, or manage a study hall.
  • Monitor transitions, meals, and common times to ensure an orderly environment; chaperone and moderate school events.
  • Run an advisory book club, assist advisees through their developmental journey, and serve as a parent contact.
  • Seek areas of growth for the school and volunteer for coaching, club management, event planning, etc.
