The Intervention Specialist provides an educational program for students as defined in the student's Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.). This role involves participating as a collaborative team member in intervention planning, multifactored evaluations, and reevaluations. The specialist will coordinate the development and continuous monitoring of Individual Educational Plans for students with disabilities, ensuring appropriate services and supports are provided in the least restrictive environment. Key responsibilities include implementing educational interventions, adapting content and methodology to address unique student needs, and designing parent involvement activities. The role requires working cooperatively with regular classroom teachers, interpreting student abilities and disabilities, assisting with intervention strategies, and modifying general education curricula. Communication with parents and professional staff regarding student needs is essential, as is participation in professional growth activities and the use of data to plan instruction and evaluate progress. The Intervention Specialist will also direct paraprofessionals, collaborate with school team members, create schedules for inclusion, and utilize Ohio Extended Standards and knowledge of the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD).
