About The Position

North Suffolk is looking for a Developmental Specialist with an Autism Specialization to join our Early Intervention Team! Harbor Area Early Childhood Services is a passionate team devoted to supporting children from birth to three years through a strength-based and family-centered approach. Early Intervention Services are provided to infants and toddlers presenting with developmental delay or are at risk for developmental delays due to environmental, medical and/or biological factors. As a Developmental Specialist- Service Coordinator, you will be part of a professional multi-disciplinary team that uses developmental and expressive therapy, along with trauma informed intervention strategies, to provide services in clients’ home, program, or other community settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, required.
  • LMHC eligible preferred
  • Experience in Infancy/Early Childhood and Special Education preferred.
  • Either be or become Early Intervention certified with DPH.
  • Driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle needed in order to provide off-site services.
  • Spanish bilingual a plus (please indicate language skills in application).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree of Education in Autism or MS in Education/ Developmental Disabilities - Autism specialization, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EI screening/intake, evaluation and assessment.
  • Provide direct child developmental and family support / case management.
  • Participate in the development of IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan), and in the ongoing execution, review and evaluation of the plan.
  • Collaborate with client families and the EI team in identifying concerns, priorities and resources.
  • Provide education, advocacy, and support on child & parenting issues and community resources to client families.
  • Refer for discrete/specialized child therapies and refer to other case management and counseling services when appropriate.
  • Coordinate intervention services with medical, state, and health providers.
  • Assist in developing a transition plan for child and family client.
