About The Position

St. Matthew School is seeking an Intervention Specialist for the 2026/2027 school year. The primary goal of this role is to assist students in mastering curriculum skills and information while fostering their growth in faith and responsibility. This position is full-time. While a Catholic background is preferred, it is not a requirement.

Requirements

  • Hold an appropriate Ohio Teaching License (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one before beginning to teach.
  • Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks.
  • Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Appropriate state certification/license as required by the grade levels and subjects taught.
  • Religious Education certification as required by the diocese.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum.
  • Help students grow in faith and responsibility.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture.
  • Understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting diversity.
  • Understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility.
  • Use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate, and ensure student learning.
  • Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
  • Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement.
  • Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators, and the faith community.
  • Assume responsibility for professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement.
