Intervention Specialist
About The Position
ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist at STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights in Cleveland, Ohio. The role supports students’ educational and behavioral goals, with a focus on students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The specialist works with classroom teachers to interpret students’ abilities and disabilities, support classroom interventions, adapt general education curricula, and help students complete regular class assignments. The position also includes assessment, behavior planning, IEP facilitation, instruction, family communication, student advising, and participation in school activities. STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights is an award-winning public charter school serving students in grades EK–8. It focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math and is part of ACCEL Schools, a public charter school network serving students across the United States.
Requirements
- Current state license.
- Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
- Experience working in a full-room inclusion model or co-teaching in a Resource Room model.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Outlook.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI).

Responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to interpret students’ abilities and disabilities, assist with classroom intervention strategies, modify general education curricula as necessary, and help students with regular class assignments.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
- Conduct functional behavior assessments.
- Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
- Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
- Work toward student achievement and culture goals, including state-specific achievement goals.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
- Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Serve as an advisor for a designated group of students.
- Communicate regularly with families about their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities, such as social events and field trips.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
