This position prioritizes external candidates. The Intervention Specialist provides an educational program for students as defined in the student's Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.). The role involves participating as a collaborative team member in intervention planning, multifactored evaluations, and reevaluations for students within required timelines. It also includes coordinating the development and continuous monitoring of Individual Educational Plans to ensure appropriate services and supports are provided in the least restrictive environment, consistent with The Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities. The specialist will implement educational interventions and specially designed instruction, adapting content, methodology, or delivery as needed. Designing and implementing meaningful parent involvement activities is also a key responsibility. The role requires working cooperatively with regular classroom teachers, interpreting student abilities and disabilities, assisting with intervention strategies, modifying curricula, and helping students with assignments. Regular communication with parents and staff regarding student needs is essential. The specialist will also participate in professional growth activities and use data to plan instruction and evaluate student progress. The ability to direct paraprofessionals, collaborate with general education teachers and school team members, create inclusion schedules, and implement Ohio Extended Standards and knowledge of the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD) are also required.
