About The Position

This position involves serving students with a variety of handicapping conditions as well as at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion setting at Newark High School. The role requires a deep understanding of the social and emotional needs of individual students and the ability to identify and address these needs through differentiated instruction and targeted learning plans.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Ohio Education of the Handicapped Licensed/Certificate with SLD, CD validation (candidates with multiple special education validations preferred) or Intervention Specialist: Mild-Moderate.
  • Be aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual student.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify individual student needs.
  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Be objective, flexible, and have an understanding of students with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with multiple special education validations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify individual student needs.
  • Complete all IEPs and ETRs to remain compliant.
  • Creatively develop and implement integrated and functional activities to teach the contact standards.
  • Differentiate instruction.
  • Use student data to determine individual needs, develop targeted learning plans, and monitor ongoing progress.
  • Serve students with a variety of handicapping conditions as well as at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion setting.
  • Plan, design and implement a variety of behavior management strategies.
  • Collaborate with parents, special and regular education staff, students, related service personnel and community agencies in the delivery of services to students with disabilities.
  • Participate in department, building and district professional development opportunities relating to the education of students with disabilities.
