About The Position

The Interpreter plays a vital role in ensuring clear and accurate communication between patients and healthcare staff. This position supports medical, dental, and behavioral health services by providing real-time Spanish/English interpretation, assisting patients with forms, and helping care teams deliver high-quality, patient-centered services. Working closely with providers, clinical staff, and support teams, this role helps remove language barriers and improve access to care for our patients.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Fluency in both Spanish and English (required)
Strong communication, listening, and comprehension skills
Basic computer proficiency and comfort with office equipment
Valid driver’s license required
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)

Nice To Haves

At least one (1) year of related experience or training preferred

Responsibilities

Provide accurate consecutive or simultaneous interpretation between Spanish and English during patient visits and communications
Support medical, dental, and behavioral health providers, as well as care teams, during patient interactions
Assist patients with understanding and completing forms and documentation
Interpret phone messages and assist with patient communication as needed
Support RN Care Management and Community Health Worker activities
Assist with medical records processing, including labeling, attaching, and routing documents appropriately
Participate in staff meetings, huddles, and workflow improvement initiatives
Help coordinate follow-up appointments when needed
Provide support at other NMHSI locations as necessary
