The Interpreter will be an active member of the students’ educational team, facilitating communication and supporting the full interaction of students. This role involves rendering messages faithfully, including class lectures, discussions, tests, and other activities, using language most readily understood by students. The interpreter will preview curriculum materials, confer with teachers, attend IEP and school staff meetings, and sign/voice communication as appropriate. They will work with teachers to ensure educational content is accessible, adhere to professional conduct codes, provide tutorial assistance, and facilitate communication between hearing and deaf students. The interpreter will also orient teachers, staff, and parents about the role of an interpreter and perform other assigned duties.
