About The Position

This position provides direct American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) individuals throughout the University, including patients, their families, and others. The role involves providing required interpretation at scheduled times or upon emergency request, receiving and potentially scheduling appointments for interpretation services, and maintaining required records. Requirements

  • Associate's degree required
  • Registry Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Membership upon hire required

Nice To Haves

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience interpreting in a health care setting preferred
  • Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Certification or RID Certification upon hire preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) as assigned throughout the University to patients, their families and others.
  • Provides required interpretation at scheduled times or upon emergency request.
  • Receives assignment of appointments and may schedule appointments for provision of interpretation.
  • Maintains required records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
