The Interoperability & Standards Specialist owns Firely’s US health IT certifications, monitors relevant regulatory activity, coordinates the company’s work in standards communities, and translates regulatory and standards developments into actionable product work. The role is part of the Product team and reports to the VP of Product & Standards, who sets regulatory and standards strategy and roadmap direction. The specialist executes certification work, conducts first-pass regulatory analysis, and provides research and recommendations to product and engineering teams. As expertise grows, the role may take on more independent analysis, external representation, workgroup presentations, and customer briefings. Certification responsibilities include preparing and submitting quarterly ONC/ASTP (g)(10) maintenance packages; filing SVAP submissions and biannual CHPL attestations; developing Real World Testing plans and reports when the program resumes; running and submitting NCQA HEDIS measure certification tests; supporting certified-version transitions; and tracking organizational obligations and public certification disclosures. The specialist monitors Federal Register, CMS, ASTP/ONC, and NCQA publications for developments relevant to FHIR, digital quality measures, USCDI, prior authorization, and payer APIs. They write impact analyses and recommendations, maintain a regulatory tracker, turn findings into Confluence documentation and Jira tickets, coordinate and submit regulatory comment letters, and attend relevant public sessions. The role also coordinates Firely’s participation in standards groups and events, including DQIC, HL7 Da Vinci, the HL7 FHIR Quality Accelerator, HL7 CQI, HL7 Connectathons, and ONC forums. Work includes preparing briefings, tracking decisions and follow-up actions, preparing test environments and tooling for Connectathons, and managing participation logistics. The specialist may also help prototype product-strategy ideas using interoperability expertise and AI tools, and contribute internal certification memos and technical documentation. This is a fully remote role for someone based in the US. The team is largely based in Europe, so some early-morning working-hour overlap is expected. Travel is approximately four to five week-long trips per year for Connectathons, working group meetings, and industry events, plus an annual trip to Amsterdam for International Week. The stated annual base salary is $90,000–$110,000.
