About The Position
Hatzel & Buehler, Inc. Internship Program is designed to introduce students to the wide range of career opportunities within the electrical construction industry. Since its inception, the program has consistently supported students in developing professional skills, building workplace relationships, and gaining meaningful, hands-on experience. Program participants have gone on to achieve significant post-internship success, including acceptance into local IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) apprenticeship programs and securing full-time employment within the industry. Join our team for a hands-on 12-week internship where you’ll gain real-world experience in branch-level accounting for one of the nation’s leading electrical construction firms. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals on live projects, building practical skills from day one.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a certificate of completion in Accounting, or related field.
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with accounting software a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Support job setup, cost tracking, and closure processes.
- Assist with daily functions in an office environment.
- Take notes and memos during meetings; type documents, drafts, and reports; sort and manage files.
- Receive guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.
- Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain reports or presentations.
- Run and analyze job cost reports and budget vs. actual variances.
- Assist with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, AR notes, and billing for and work orders.
- Interpret cost/profit loss reports and percent complete methodology.
- Assist with month-end close.
