About The Position

1515 Summer Interns support the daily operations and long-term improvement of 1515 through hands-on, project-based work. This internship is designed for students interested in event operations, systems development, facilities management, and administrative process improvement. The intern will work closely with professional staff to design, build, and implement practical tools and systems that improve efficiency, organization, and user experience for staff, student employees, and building users. This position emphasizes applied learning, independent project work, and professional skill development in a real-world campus environment.

  • Experience or interest in basic web development, databases, or digital tools (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a game room resource checkout system, such as a simple website or digital tool, to track equipment usage, availability, and returns.
  • Assess current game room usage workflows and recommend improvements that enhance accountability, accessibility, and staff efficiency.
  • Support improvements to operational tracking systems used by student employees and professional staff.
  • Audit, organize, and redesign the current lost and found system to improve intake, tracking, storage, and retrieval processes.
  • Create clear procedures for onboarding staff and student employees to the updated lost and found process.
  • Develop supporting documentation or guides to ensure long-term sustainability of the system.
  • Create clear, user-friendly building usage signage for staff and student employees (e.g., space expectations, setup standards, storage guidelines).
  • Assist with organizing and labeling storage areas to improve accessibility, safety, and workflow efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve furniture placement, storage practices, and space utilization.
  • Support ongoing building operations as needed, including assisting with Summer Orientation Open House from July 6 – July 31, monitoring spaces, and collaborating with full-time staff to give tours of the space.
  • Participate in meetings with professional staff to provide progress updates and receive feedback on building marketing.
