About The Position

Join the Cutting-Edge Team at ITASCA North America! ITASCA North America is seeking a geomechanics intern to join our Minneapolis office for summer 2027. The intern will contribute to consulting projects involving geologic and geotechnical data analysis, machine learning, and numerical modeling. The position may include up to two weeks of out-of-town fieldwork.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, mining engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Ability to work on-site in the Minneapolis office for the duration of the internship.
• Willingness to travel for up to two weeks and occasionally adjust work hours to meet project needs.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without present or future sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, L-1, TN)

Responsibilities

• Organizing, reviewing, and interpreting geologic and geotechnical data
• Applying machine-learning methods
• Preparing inputs for numerical models
• Conducting sensitivity studies
• Comparing model results with field observations
• Documenting assumptions and results
• Preparing figures, tables, technical summaries, reports, and presentations
• Collaborating with engineers and consultants on project deliverables
