About The Position

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines. Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August). Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model. Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description. Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities. Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

Requirements

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in an ABET-Accredited BS or MS program in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
• Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
• Candidates must be in good academic standing.
• Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.

• Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer.
• Applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

Responsibilities

• The Engineering group plans, designs, and orders materials for our distribution and transmission facilities (lines and substations) in a cost-effective manner to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of power to our customers.
• Successful candidates may be considered for several areas of Engineering which can include: Asset Management Planning, Protection, Reliability Substation Engineering, Distribution Engineering.
