About The Position

The Mission Engineering Group at JHU/APL is seeking interns to support critical work in one of three specialized areas: software engineering, systems engineering, and/or decision science. Students can apply to one of these areas based on their education and any prior intern experience. Our group develops cutting-edge technologies, architectures, decision aids, and prototypes that empower warfighters to leverage assets in accomplishing missions vital to our nation's defense. Internship Areas and Opportunities: Software Engineering Software prototype development. Software integration and testing. Systems Engineering Concept and requirements development. Mission engineering-to-test integration efforts. Model-based and digital engineering best practices. Decision Science Decision analysis and information dependency mapping. Data visualization and analysis. Decision aid development and full system life-cycle learning. These internships provide a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that directly impact national defense while gaining valuable experience in your chosen field.

Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree majoring in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering fields.
Coursework and/or project experience in any of the sought specialty-areas of software engineering, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), systems/digital engineering, or decision science.
Demonstrate successful problem solving in a technical area.
Some familiarity and experience with programming languages and methodologies, such as C++ on Linux, JavaScript, Java, Matlab, Python, SysML, OOSEM.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
Completed previous internship/co-op or have other relevant work experience.
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
U.S. citizenship.
