About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Internship Coordinator/Recruiter to lead the agency’s internship programs and support recruitment efforts. This dual role is responsible for building strong partnerships with colleges and universities, managing internship pipelines, and recruiting top talent for a variety of roles across the agency. The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act. This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Applicant Tracking Systems and/or supporting HRIS such as Workday, Integrated HR/Payroll System, SmartSheet, and/or ServiceNow
  • Related HR Certification, such as Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), HR Certification Institute (HRCI), Public Sector HR Association (PSHRA)

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage structured internship programs across DIT divisions
  • Serve as the primary liaison with colleges, universities, and technical institutions
  • Coordinate outreach, selection, onboarding, and tracking of interns
  • Support recruitment for senior leadership and IT roles, including sourcing, screening, and presenting candidates
  • Provide consultation on salary administration and ensure compliance with state policies
  • Represent NCDIT at career fairs and recruitment events statewide
  • Develop communication materials and strategies to promote internship and career opportunities
  • Track and report program metrics and recruitment data
