About The Position

Deliver immigration and personal services to foreign national faculty, researchers, scholars and their dependents. Advise on employment, travel, community resources. Administer University's Exchange Visitor Program for international faculty, researchers, and visiting scholars, execute records set up and maintenance; train and collaborate with hiring units; intervene with consular, State Department, and immigration officials when necessary. Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J-1 program and a University compliance officer in implementation of US Department of Homeland Security's Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) regulations for exchange visitor faculty, researchers and visiting scholars and their dependents. Coordinate orientations for faculty, researchers, scholars and dependents. Assist with programming. Coordinate OGS cross-cultural programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in higher/international education, liberal arts, management, communications, or a related field.
  • 2+ years relevant immigration regulations advisement and compliance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with federal regulations processing non-immigrant visas.
  • Ability to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate detailed instructions clearly.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in cross-cultural communication, international/higher education, area or cultural studies, foreign language, or related field.
  • 3+ years Experience in managing an exchange visitor program in a higher education setting and processing non-immigrant petitions.
  • Experience in supervision and with database management.
  • Fluency in at least one foreign language; experience living abroad.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Web-based applications.
  • Completion of NAFSA J-1, H-1B, Employment-Based Permanent Residence Professional Development Programs.
