The International Patient Coordinator organizes and manages all necessary arrangements for international patients seeking medical care within the University Health System. The incumbent acts as a liaison between referral sources, patients, hospitals, and physicians who contact UHealth International for assistance with healthcare needs. Additionally, this employee works independently to ensure that medical services are coordinated in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner according to established guidelines. The SCCC dedicated Coordinator will be assigned all oncology cases and will answer emails, telephone calls, tasks and all inquiries for corresponding area. The SCCC Coordinator will work closely with the SCCC Nurse Navigators from the various Site Diseases to ensure patients needs are met in a timely and accurate manner while striving for a positive patient experience. The SCCC Coordinator will receive Site Disease training from the SCCC Nurse Navigators and will follow the SCCC Nurse Navigation Site Disease Check Lists. The SCCC Coordinator will be responsible for requesting and obtaining all oncology medical records in English (whenever possible) from the patient. The SCCC Coordinator will advise the SCCC Nurse Navigators when there is a patient case being transferred from a National (USA) medical facility, since the patients’ medical records may be accessed via a patient information sharing site, such as Care Everywhere Network. The SCCC Coordinator will review patient financial responsibility to include cost estimates and bundle self-pay package information with the patient and/or family with the assistance and support from the respective department and/or the UHI Finance team.
