About The Position

The International Multimedia Journalist Level IV at the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB) / U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) in Washington, DC serves as a team leader, assigning work, coaching team members, and reporting on their performance. This role involves writing and producing news and feature content and programming for broadcasts, web, and social media. Responsibilities include serving as a line producer, managing broadcast timing, conducting and writing interviews, adapting and translating content between English and a native language, and contributing to the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special programs and web/social media sections. The journalist will also voice material for broadcasts, contribute to production elements including fine editing, and edit/approve copy written by others. Technical functions, including equipment operation, are also part of the role, along with meeting OCB standards for productivity, quality, and deadlines. Additional duties may include serving as a videographer/reporter, anchor/program host, making suggestions for policy and workflow improvements, and working independently or as part of a team. The position requires fluency in a target language, deep knowledge of the target area, and the ability to adapt stories into English. Specialized knowledge and formal education in a field desired by OCB are also required, along with data entry and functions related to OCB's digital asset management system. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned
  • Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned
  • Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others
  • Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned
  • As assigned, edits and approves copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories
  • Performs technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned
  • Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed
  • Meets OCB standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines
  • Serves as videographer/reporter, as assigned
