About The Position

This is a 12-week summer internship program at Rolls-Royce, offering a global engineering experience. Interns will gain hands-on technical experience, engage with engineering leaders, and contribute to real-world project problem-solving while immersing themselves in a new culture. The Assembly & Test function is responsible for assembling and testing products at various levels (system, sub-system, module, component) and collecting/validating data for design verification across aerospace, industrial, and marine programs. This function is the largest within Rolls-Royce, employing over 18,000 people worldwide.

Requirements

• Working towards an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical, Astronautical Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and/or related degree.
• A strong passion for the future of technology.
• A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations.
• An open-minded, curious, and agile approach to work and career development.
• Understanding how to interpret data and apply it to a decision or next action step as needed, as well as the concept of continuous improvement.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated coursework in one or more of the following areas: programming languages, electrical engineering, aerodynamics, aerospace systems design, astrodynamics applications.
• Minimum GPA: 3.0.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be a student graduating between December 2027 and May 2028 at the University of Virginia or Virginia Tech to be eligible for this internship.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a 12-week Engineering Internship through real-world assignments on exciting and varied projects in an engineering capability.
• Utilize data, technology, and AI to improve processes.
• Work under the guidance of an experienced engineer, receiving coaching and support from mentors in the US and UK.
• Develop valuable, transferable skills through varied daily tasks and support from experienced professionals across the organization.
