About The Position

The International Controls Internship at Rolls-Royce is a 12-week summer program designed to provide interns with hands-on technical experience in international engineering. Interns will engage with engineering leaders, contribute to real-world problem-solving, and immerse themselves in a new culture. The Control Systems group is responsible for the design, integration, testing, in-service support, and supply chain management of power and propulsion systems, ensuring they meet customer requirements and uphold quality, safety, and security standards. This includes designing and maintaining the software and hardware that support these systems globally. The various teams within Control Systems focus on systems and software for control and monitoring, electronics for hardware interfacing, mechanical aspects for enclosures and sensors, and systems security to protect against cyber threats.

Requirements

• Working towards an undergraduate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and/or related degree.
• A strong passion for the future of technology.
• A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations.
• An open-minded, curious, and agile approach to work and career development.
• Minimum GPA: 3.0
• Work authorization eligibility: U.S. Citizen.
• Must be a student graduating between December 2027 and May 2028 at the University of Virginia or Virginia Tech to be eligible for this internship.
